The Ashes: Australia's Nathan Lyon ended his long wait for a 400th wicket in Test cricket on Day 4 of the first Test in Brisbane and ended the England innings with 403 career wickets to his name.
Australia spinner Nathan Lyon ended his long wait for a 400th Test wicket when he dismissed England's Dawid Malan on Saturday and then went on to take three more. He ended the England innings with figures of 4/19, helping Australia cruise to a nine-wicket win over England in the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.
Lyon ended the day with 403 wickets, two wickets behind West Indies great Curtly Ambrose. He, however, is some distance away from climb further up on the all-time wicket-takers list for Australia. Lyon is the third player from the country to breach the 400-wicket mark, only behind former fast bowler Glenn McGrath (563 wickets) and Shane Warne (708).
