Most social media companies have complied, Twitter still not following rules: Govt sources

Sources in the government on Friday said that Twitter is still not following the new IT rules completely. On the other hand, most other major social media intermediaries have complied.

The war between the government and microblogging site Twitter is far from over. On Thursday night, Twitter informed the Centre that it has appointed a nodal officer who will double up as the grievance officer, as mandated by the new IT rules. However, the central government has not deemed Twitter's action as complete compliance. Sources in the government said that while most major social media intermediaries have complied by sharing the required details, Twitter is yet to comply completely.
