More US security assistance for Ukraine coming 'in very short order,' Psaki says
CNN
The US will announce a new round of security assistance to Ukraine "in very short order," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday evening, as Russia's brutal invasion continues.
Speaking to CNN+'s Chris Wallace, Psaki said Russia's test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile would not change the White House's posture in aiding Ukraine, vowing that the US would proceed in providing both military and security assistance.
President Joe Biden, she said, will "have more to announce on the next round of security assistance in very short order. You'll hear more soon."
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday expressed frustration that Hamas has submitted “numerous changes” to a US-backed proposal for a ceasefire and release of hostages in Gaza – a development that casts further doubt on the prospects of quickly securing the deal the US hopes will bring “an enduring end” to the war.
The US and Ukraine are expected to sign a bilateral security pact on the sidelines of the G7 in Italy on Thursday, multiple people familiar with the matter told CNN, in a deal that lays out a path for the US’ long-term security relationship with Kyiv but that could also be undone by future US administrations.
