More than 5,200 new COVID-19 vaccination appointments added in Ottawa after bookings fill up
CTV
Ottawa Public Health says more than 5,200 COVID-19 vaccine appointments were added Monday evening, after earlier saying appointments were fully booked until January.
"All COVID-19 vaccine appointments for the 12+ population are currently booked until January 2," the health unit tweeted Monday morning. "We are working to open more appointments and will update you as we know more."
That update came just after 6 p.m. The health unit tweeted that the new appointments were added just moments before.
"Ottawa Public Health is continuing to focus on vaccinations for eligible residents. A few minutes ago, over 5,200 new vaccination appointments were added for 12+," OPH said.
This came as many Ottawa residents said they experienced problems when logging on to the provincial booking system to book booster shots, which are now available for people 50 and older. Ontario officials said a technical issue is to blame.
