More than 14,000 new students enrolled in private schools this year

Doha: The Department of Private Schools Affairs announced the end of student registration for the academic year 2021/2022, which was on Thursday, October 14, 2021, and students coming from outside the country can register no later than end of January next year. Hamad Mohammed Al Ghali, Director of the Department of School Licenses for the Ministry, said that current academic year saw registration of 14,724 students so far, bringing the total number of students to 215,408 in 328 private schools and kindergartens calling on parents to take advantage of the electronic services of the private education sector, within the public services portal on the ministry’s website www.edu.gov.qa, where parents can enter the portal for guidance and information regarding private schools and kindergartens. Al-Ghali noted that the department has given priority to creating a database of all private schools and kindergartens, which is now available on the website of the Ministry, showing the name of the school or kindergarten, the curriculum, annual tuition fees, basic information about school, vacancies, capacity, school accreditation and educational vouchers, in addition to the possibility of comparing a school with another. “The guardians can obtain through the ministry's website a list of schools and private kindergartens, as it contains many classifications and can be searched using the name of the school, curriculum, geographical area, educational level, annual tuition fees and communication data,” Al-Ghali said. He also explained that 118 private schools and kindergartens are part of the educational voucher system and 15 private schools and kindergartens opened during the current academic year.
