Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) announced the opening of registration for applications to license and operate private schools and kindergartens for the 2026-2027 academic year.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said applications will be accepted electronically through its website via the "Open a New Educational Institution" portal, beginning Dec. 7, 2025, and continuing until Jan. 7, 2026.
The ministry said it has set the requirements for owners, school buildings, and academic standards in accordance with the guidelines for issuing private-school licenses.
Among the key general conditions: applicants may not be employed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education or any of its affiliated bodies, must be at least 21 years old, and must submit a copy of their ID card.
The ministry noted that priority for licensing will go to curricula and areas with rising demand, including: the Indian curriculum in Al Da'ayen municipality; the Syrian curriculum in Doha municipality; the Egyptian curriculum, Pakistani curriculum, National Standards, and International Baccalaureate curricula in Al Wakrah municipality; the Philippine curriculum in Al Wakrah and Al Da'ayen municipalities; the Tunisian curriculum in Al Rayyan municipality; and the American and French curricula in Al Da'ayen municipality.
