The Nova Scotia RCMP is continuing the search for a toddler who went missing along with a woman over the weekend.
On Tuesday, police said the woman, 36-year-old Holly Jean Cooper, was found dead but the search continues for three-year-old Lucas Robert Cooper.
Posts on social media indicate the two were mother and child, though police did not say in the release. A spokesperson for the RCMP could not immediately be reached for comment.
In a release, the RCMP said the woman’s death is not believed to be suspicious in nature, but the investigation is ongoing.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this difficult time,” it said.
The boy is described as being about three feet tall, with curly brown hair and brown eyes. The pair were last seen on Ruth Falls Rd. in Ruth Falls (Sheet Harbour area) around 2 a.m. Saturday, and were believed to be on foot.
The release said RCMP air services, police dog services, the underwater recovery team, the Canadian Coast Guard, and ground search and rescue teams from Sheet Harbour, Eastern Shore, Musquodoboit Valley and Halifax are participating in the search.
