Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality launched a pioneering Smart Waste Container Project in Al Wakra Municipality, marking a major step forward in the country’s digital transformation agenda within the public services sector.
Director of General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality Muqbil Madhhur Al-Shammari said that the project is part of the Ministry’s broader strategic vision to shift from traditional waste management methods to technology-driven solutions.
Speaking to Al Rayan TV recently, he said, “This program falls under the Ministry’s digital transformation strategy. We began by piloting the smart containers in Al Wakra, and thankfully the experiment has been successful,” he said.
He added that the next phase will see the system expanded to Doha’s Madinat Khalifa area and Muaither in Al Rayan Municipality.
The smart waste system is designed around three key components: the establishment of a unified command and control center, real-time vehicle and fleet tracking, and an integrated waste management platform.
