Represented by the Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organised on Wednesday a course on ways to monitor the quality of marine waters and estuaries for a number of employees of the Ministry's Marine Protection Department to accelerate the response process for monitoring pollution incidents, environmental deterioration of marine waters and expanding the scope of monitoring marine water quality in the country. Participants were trained on the methods of preparing containers and identifying their types, demonstrating the samples required to monitor marine water quality, and introducing them in detail to the participants physically, chemically, and biologically. A marine field tour by boat was also organised to train on methods of monitoring the quality of marine waters and estuaries, as well as how to take samples from the site, and identify the types of environmental pollution in all its physical, chemical, and biological forms. Security and safety measures in maritime work were explained and the methods used to preserve samples, while the participants visited the central environmental laboratory in Abu Hamour and were briefed on the processes of analysing samples and extracting the results. This training course, presented by the Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department, is of great importance to accelerate response processes, reduce environmental degradation, and take quick necessary measures.
