Minister of Justice praises Shura Council's election process, voter turnout

HE the Minister of Justice Masoud bin Mohammed Al Ameri

HE the Minister of Justice Masoud bin Mohammed Al Ameri praised the election process and described the organization and voter turnouts for Saturday's Shura Council elections as fantastic. In exclusive remarks made to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Al Ameri said that today will be a special one in the history of the State of Qatar. He added that the day embodies the wise will and sound vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in enhancing the rule of law and state institutions, based on the importance that His Highness attaches to strengthening the traditions of the Qatari Shura and developing the legislative process with a broader participation of citizens, in a manner that ensures the participation of all in the process of development and modernization led by His Highness. HE Al Ameri extended his sincere congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, and to the honorable people of Qatar, for this historic achievement, saying it will be one of the pillars of just governance, and will strengthen the Qatari system, making democracy rooted in the structure of our society, for which wise leadership of Qatar laid the legal foundations under the permanent constitution of the state issued in 2004. HE Al Ameri also congratulated HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Shura Council Elections, for the success of the electoral process, including preparing the necessary laws for it, and the formation of supervisory committees and executive committees concerned with elections, in addition to proposing a timetable for the election process for council members, and preparing an integrated national legal system that contributed to organizing the electoral process with ease and transparency. HE Masoud bin Mohammed said: "What we saw of popular demand for registration for election and nomination, and the diversity of experiences and competencies that were submitted to the councils membership reflects the aspirations to enrich the elected council and provide it with a selection of our cadres of different ages and scientific and professional levels, which It will build on the donations and contributions made by the previous members of the Council to our national development process." HE the Minister extended his thanks and gratitude to the members of the former Shura Council, which, over the course of a process that lasted nearly 50 years, had great successes during the previous sessions, noting that the success acts as a solid foundation for the elected Council and the beginning of a new phase for the broader popular participation in legislation, oversight and follow-up of various development plans, expressing his wishes for success for the new members who will be chosen for the upcoming session. After casting his vote, the Minister expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the electoral process and the voter turnout, expressing his thanks to the authorities supervising this process, noting that the Ministry of Justice harnessed all its legal and human capabilities for the success of the election process.
