MI vs RR: Felt a little bad after missing hat-trick but happy we beat Mumbai, says Yuzvendra Chahal

IPL 2022: MI vs RR, Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his disappointment at not being able to get his first career hat-trick, but was happy that his team got their second win in a row at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Rajasthan Royals got their second successive win after beating Mumbai Indians by 23 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. Rohit Sharma’s men could only manage to get 170/7 in 20 overs against the mighty bowling attack of Rajasthan.

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians were handed their second defeat in a row, after losing to Delhi Capitals last Sunday. Not only batter Jos Buttler, who got the first century of this season shinned for RR, the bowlers also made a great impact.

RR’s Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal got two wickets each. Chahal (2-26) with an economy rate of 6.50 was the least expensive of the lot.

Chahal was a little unlucky, however, as he was denied a hat-trick when he dismissed Tim David and Daniel Sams in the first two balls of his over. His third ball went straight towards Karun Nair, but he dropped it. There was a doubt whether the ball hit the bat or not, but the replay confirmed that it did.

Chahal expressed his disappointment at missing out on the first potential hat-trick of his career, but was happy with his side getting the win.

"(on the missed hat-trick) Felt a bit bad, but it's okay. Part of the game. It was good that we won. Interesting win. If I had the hat trick it would've been nice since I have never earned a hat trick," Chahal said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

"The plan was I will give a new batter a googly since there was bounce and turn. (on bowling in Royals and with Ashwin) I first try to see the situation. What the team needs. Whether I go for dots or wickets," Chahal added.
