Mexican authorities released more details about a Thursday morning raid that erupted into a small war as police successfully arrested the son of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán.
The army then sent Blackhawk helicopters into the melee that attacked a convoy of 25 cartel vehicles, some of which had gun platforms that were firing on the helicopters. Andrew Mark Miller is a writer at Fox News. Find him on Twitter @andymarkmiller and email tips to AndrewMark.Miller@Fox.com.
The cartel then opened fire on the military aircraft, forcing two of them down with "a significant number of impacts" in each of the two aircraft, Sandoval said.
