Mets-Yankees’ Subway Series opener rained out
NY Post
The Subway Series will have to wait.
The game between the Yankees and Mets at Yankee Stadium was postponed due to rain Friday night and will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The second game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. A source confirmed the Yankees wanted to make up Friday’s game as part of a two-stadium doubleheader on Sept. 12, but the Mets — who already have doubleheaders scheduled for Aug. 31 and Sept. 4 — declined to go along with the idea.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
