Nurses’ body says government trying to outsource work to private agency
Beeram Singh, 31, tested positive for COVID-19 in June last year while working as a contractual nurse at the Safdarjung Hospital. He had been on COVID duty for 15 days. Soon after the infection, his condition worsened and he had to be admitted to the hospital for 20 days. “Everyone was scared of the virus but no contractual nurse said no to COVID duty. I did it as my duty towards the nation. Despite such efforts, we are paid very little and our contracts last only for three months. This puts us under a lot of pressure. We don’t know whether we will have a job tomorrow and there is no one to listen to us,” Mr. Singh, a father of two children, said.More Related News
