Over 15 anti-coup protesters reported killed in one of bloodiest crackdowns by Myanmar army since demonstrations began.
Myanmar’s military government has declared martial law over two townships in the country’s largest city, Yangon, an announcement that came after local media and witnesses reported the killing of more than 15 people in the latest crackdown by security forces against anti-coup protesters. Mass demonstrations are now in their sixth week since the February 1 coup overthrew elected civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and plunged the country into turmoil, with dozens of people killed and thousands arrested. Security forces on Sunday opened fire on protesters in the Hlaingthaya district of Yangon. Plumes of black smoke rose over the area.More Related News
