Marlins already spiraling toward possible trade deadline selloff
NY Post
At 0-7, the Marlins already look like likely sellers.
They dangled Jesus Luzardo earlier. Their most serious talks were with the Orioles, who acquired Corbin Burnes instead. Luzardo isn’t a free agent until after 2026.
Edward Cabrera is another viable trade candidate.
The Padres have been considering Tommy Pham but want to stay under the $237 million first-tied luxury-tax threshold. That would leave them just $2M-$3M. They’d also prefer to have money for the trade deadline.
Hard to believe Brandon Belt is still out there. But first base is a tough spot. Also free are Trey Mancini, Luke Voit and others.
Nick Pivetta was a trade target this winter, but his value is increasing with two more very good starts. He should do well in free agency.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
