
Many 'apes' on Reddit are sitting out the Robinhood IPO

Robinhood's initial public offering is arguably the most eagerly awaited of the year. But according to commentary on Reddit, it's one of the least popular for some traders.
There appear to be a lot of angry individual investors — the so-called apes of Reddit — who want nothing to do with the company or the stock. Some are even threatening to short the stock, betting it will go down. Shares fell about 10% in early trading Thursday after opening at its initial public offering price of $38.
Janet Mills and her allies are counting on a gender gap to narrow Platner’s wide lead ahead of the June 9 primary to decide who will face incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins. They are betting that the unfiltered style that has brought Platner widespread attention as someone who could help Democrats reach young men will backfire with women.
