Manoj Bajpayee Recalls He "Was On The Verge Of Losing Mental Stability" During Gali Guleiyan Prep

For National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, one of his “most challenging and rewarding roles” came in the form of Gali Guleiyan. After being premiered at several national and international film festivals, the film released on Prime Video on Friday. Manoj Bajpayee, sharing his film's release details, revealed that he was “on the verge of losing (his) mental stability while preparing” for his role. He stars as a man who is lost in his own thoughts and is trapped within the walls and alleys of Old Delhi. This role was Manoj Bajpayee's “Everest as an actor.” In a long note, the actor detailed his experience of filming Gali Guleiyan and shared why the film will always remain special to him.”

Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “Out now. I was on the verge of losing my mental stability while preparing for this role, so much so that I had to stop shooting. Gali Guleiyan, one of the most challenging and rewarding roles I have ever played, is FINALLY Out on Prime Video.”

The 2017 psychological drama, which is titled In The Shadows, in English, premiered at many film festivals, including the 22nd Busan International Film Festival, MAMI Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and Cleveland International Film Festival, as per news agency PTI. It was also screened at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the Atlanta Film Festival. It has been written, directed and produced by Dipesh Jain. The actor shared how “thrilled” he is, now that the audience of his own country will be able to stream Gali Guleiyan. Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “The film has travelled the world through national and international film festivals and won many accolades. However, I wanted the film made available to the audience of my country, but getting this done has been a fight, and it has finally come to fruition. I can't tell you how thrilled and excited I am to share this with all of you, and I hope you will also love this film.”

Manoj Bajpayee also singled out a note for the Gali Guleiyan director for “leading this project.” He wrote, “Dipesh Jain, writer, director and producer of the film, has been outstanding in leading this project. Congratulations to the cast and crew of the film; they have been exceptional in delivering this masterpiece.”
