Manchin notes inflation is "getting worse," as House is poised to vote on social spending package

Senator Joe Manchin has reservations about the $1.75 trillion social spending plan that the House is expected to vote on next week and that and still needs Senate approval. Now, another obstacle has landed in the measure's path to passage: government data released Thursday said that inflation is growing at an alarming clip, with consumer prices now 6.2% higher than they were a year ago at this time.
The West Virginia moderate, who has already managed to force Democrats to bring down the cost of the bill, which was originally $3.5 trillion, appeared to chide the White House for its predictions that rising prices would be temporary, or "transitory."
"By all accounts, the threat posed by record inflation to the American people is not 'transitory' and is instead getting worse," Manchin tweeted Wednesday. "From the grocery store to the gas pump, Americans know the inflation tax is real and DC can no longer ignore the economic pain Americans feel every day."
A cybercriminal group claims it stole personal data belonging to more than 500 million Ticketmaster customers. Although the event ticketing service, owned by Live Nation Entertainment, hasn't confirmed the attack, security experts warn that it could put users of the platform at risk for a range of scams.
