A shooting in Surrey's Newton neighbourhood Thursday morning has left one man dead, according to Mounties.
A shooting in Surrey's Newton neighbourhood Thursday morning has left one man dead, according to Mounties.
In a news release, Surrey RCMP say officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 8200 block of 128 Street just before 9:30 a.m.
When Mounties arrived on scene, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Attending officers provided the man with medical care until B.C. Emergency Health Services arrived. Despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries on scene.
"This appears to be a targeted shooting," says Const. Sarbjit K. Sangha in the release. "A suspect vehicle was located in the 12200 block of 82 Avenue fully engulfed in fire."
Police are searching for possible suspects and a second vehicle that may have been used as a getaway vehicle.
Mounties say the investigation is still in its early stages and any further information will be provided by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
