
Malappuram District Panchayat felicitates disability award winners

Malappuram District Panchayat honors State Disability Award winners for their innovative initiatives supporting the differently abled community.
The district panchayat on Wednesday felicitated District Collector V.R. Vinod and his team for winning the State Disability Award for the district, commending them for their innovative and inclusive initiatives.
Inaugurating the programme, district panchayat president P.A. Jabbar Haji said Malappuram’s efforts in caring for the differently abled had emerged as a model not only for other districts in the State, but for the entire country.
Sharing the honour with his team, the Collector said the award was a recognition of their collective efforts. District panchayat vice-president A.P. Smiji presided over the function.
The district panchayat also felicitated District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary and Civil Judge M. Shabir Ibrahim for initiatives that led to Malappuram being selected as the best DLSA in the State.
Mementoes and certificates were presented to K. Riyasudheen, winner of the award for the best employee with hearing impairment; C.P. Fousiya, who won the award for the best employee in the private sector with locomotor disability; and K. Anil Kumar, winner of the award for the best employee in the private sector with hearing impairment.
Shabna Ponnad, who received the award for her literary contributions, and Ability Foundation, Pulikkal, selected as the best differently abled private institution, were also felicitated.
