Police tape has gone up around Broadview Park, near Canada Way and Gilmore Avenue. The RCMP's Emergency Response Team was on scene, joined by the canine unit, the gang enforcement unit, and officers from the Vancouver and New Westminster police departments.
The Burnaby RCMP, in a tweet, said there is no ongoing risk to the public but has asked the public to avoid the area due to an "unfolding incident."
At least two people were injured, both taken away in advance life support ambulances after being tended to by paramedics on the grassy field in the park. In total, four ambulances left the scene with their lights flashing and sirens on.
