Maiden Launch Of New ISRO Rocket Runs Into Trouble

The Indian Space Research Organisation, or ISRO, said it is "analysing the data" on the launch of its smallest rocket, SSLV-D1, which lifted off from the spaceport in Sriharikota this morning, carrying an earth observation satellite and a student satellite.

"SSLV-D1 performed as expected at all stages. In the terminal phase of the mission, some data loss is occurring. We are analysing the data to conclude the final outcome of the mission with respect to achieving a stable orbit," ISRO chairman S Somanath said.
