Produced by Boney Kapoor and helmed by Amit Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame, the movie endured a four-year struggle to secure a theatrical release. The news of Maidaan's release date was unveiled by Ajay Devgn himself through a poster, featuring him sporting a grey suit while hugging his football team amidst an emotional moment. They were surrounded by a huge crowd holding Indian flags and cheering for them.

The release date of Maidaan was also mentioned on the poster.
