Luis Severino’s Yankees return starting to come into focus
NY Post
A timeline for Luis Severino’s return to the Yankees is beginning to come into focus.
The right-hander, 15 months removed from Tommy John surgery, was scheduled to throw another simulated game Monday. If everything went well, he would then start a rehab assignment on Sunday, likely with Low-A Tampa. Rehab assignments have a maximum 30-day clock for pitchers, meaning Severino could be back with the Yankees by July 6, barring any setbacks.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
