
Lonzo Ball gives clue about Pelicans future with Knicks potentially looming

Lonzo Ball picked the right time for his most productive season. Now, he gets to decide how he wants to proceed.
A restricted free agent-to-be, the 23-year-old Ball will have a say in his future for the first time since he was taken second overall by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft, whether to stay in New Orleans with the Pelicans or pick a new home. “That’s a conversation between me and my agent moving forward. But obviously I would love to be back,” Ball told reporters. “I built a bond here with the coaches and the teammates who are here. I definitely wouldn’t mind coming back at all.”
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
