London police are asking for the public's help in finding a man they say broke into a woman's west-end home and seriously assaulted her early Tuesday morning.
At around 5 a.m. ET, a man entered the woman's residence without her knowledge in the area of Fiddlers Green Road and Oxford Street West, police said. The woman and her young child were asleep at the time.
The woman woke up and argued with the man, who was known to her. The man then assaulted her, tied her up, threatened her with a knife and forcibly stopped her from leaving.
Later that evening, the woman escaped the residence from an upstairs window and went to a nearby home, then called 911 from there.
The victim was located by officers and taken to hospital to be treated for injuries. The child was found unhurt.
Police were unable to locate the suspect.
Thanh Dat Mai, 42, of London, has been charged by way of warrant of arrest with the following offences:
Mai is described as West Asian, 5-foot-5, around 176 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police are reminding the public not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
