London police constable Stephen Williams has officially resigned from the London Police Services.
In May, Const. Williams was found guilty under the Police Services Act of discreditable conduct after he repeatedly called his ex-girlfriend at work, ran background checks on her and wouldn't leave her alone.
His resignation takes effect Nov. 22.
"Once Constable Williams' resignation becomes effective, the London Police Service will lose jurisdiction over outstanding allegations of misconduct," said police Chief Steve Williams, who shares the same name with the constable, in a statement to CBC News.
"The London Police Service is satisfied with this outcome based on the circumstances of this case, including Constable Williams' inability to attend the hearing due to illness, to bring finality to this issue, and to protect a vulnerable witness."
Chief Williams said London Police Services will not be speaking to this matter further.
