Letitia James sues HHS over tying federal funds to transgender policy
Fox News
Attorney General Letitia James leads coalition challenging Department of Health and Human Services policy that conditions federal funding on transgender treatment restrictions.
"The federal government is trying to force states to choose between their values and the vital funding their residents depend on," James said in a statement. "This policy threatens health care for families, life-saving research, and education programs that help young people thrive in favor of denying the dignity and existence of transgender people."
Last month, HHS announced a sweeping package of proposed regulatory actions to end "sex-rejecting procedures" on minors as part of President Donald Trump's January 2025 executive order calling on the department to protect children from "chemical and surgical mutilation."
