Dilhara Fernando was the star with the ball as Manipal Tigers registered a three-run win to get off the mark in the Legends League Cricket on Monday. A late blitz from the Pathan brothers wasn't enough for the Kings.
Dilhara Fernando's four-wicket haul helped Manipal Tigers secure a three-run win over Bhilwara Kings in the Legends League Cricket on Monday.
This was the Tigers' first win in the tournament as they finally got off the mark in the points table in Cuttack. The Kings won the toss on the day and captain Irfan Pathan decided to send in the Tigers to bat.
The decision came back to haunt him as Jesse Ryder and Tatenda Taibu got the Tigers off to a brilliant start as the openers took a liking to the Kings' bowling attack.
Ryder and Taibu put up 109 runs in 10.4 overs before Yusuf Pathan came in to the act and dismissed the former New Zealand batter. The part-time spinner would then dismiss Taibu in the same over to hand the momentum back to the Kings.
Ryder scored 47 off 35 balls while Taibu got 54 off 30 balls.
Pardeep Sahu also departed quickly putting the Tigers in a bit of bother before Corey Anderson and Mohammed Kaif's partnership got the team to put up a challenging total of 175 for 8 in the 20 overs.
