Los Angeles police detained a person of interest in connection to a six-acre brush fire Tuesday that prompted evacuations from the historic Griffith Observatory, credited with pioneering space travel programs and sci-fi special effects for Hollywood productions on other worlds.
The blaze was first reported around 2:43 p.m. Tuesday by N. Nottingham Avenue, south of the observatory near the Boy Scout Trail, a popular hiking trail in Griffith Park.
