Kudumbashree construction groups prove their mettle

Members of women construction groups under the District Kudumbashree Mission in Wayanad have proved their mettle in house construction as they have completed building 25 houses in a short span of time.
As many as 74 Kudumbashree members of 17 construction groups, each group comprising four to six members, are working in the sector now.
The Mission had provided 53 days’ training for members on all aspects of construction work with the support of the Wayanad Social Service, an NGO in the district, and Rural Self-Employment Training Institute here two years ago.
The restoration and redevelopment of the decades-old Calve College Government school, a landmark that occupies a prominent place in the city’s history is nearing completion. The Puducherry Smart City Development Limited (PSCDL), which has taken up the restoration, has planned to complete the work by the first week of July. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is the architectural consultant for PSCDL, while Puducherry Technological University (PTU) is the structural consultant. The work commenced in August 2021 and costs ₹4.75 crore.
Works are under way to establish smart classrooms equipped with broadband connectivity in as many as 20,000 panchayat union primary schools and to establish hi-tech laboratories with similar Internet connectivity in 6,992 panchayat union primary schools across Tamil Nadu, the Director of Elementary Education (DEE) has informed the Madras High Court.
