The programme celebrated the success of its 9th season with a virtual Award Ceremony.

This year marks another year of achievements for the award-winning Koora Time programme – a joint initiative launched by Qatar Shell and Qatar Football Association (QFA) to engage children and promote a healthy lifestyle among youth through football. The programme celebrated the success of its 9th season with a virtual Award Ceremony. The season 9 of Koora Time attracted over 1500 Students, with 53 percent majority of female participants in this year innovative virtual version of the programme. Participants from 21 schools across the country had free access to the virtual platform launched during the pandemic outbreak. The programme celebrated the success of its 9th season with a virtual Award Ceremony on the 27th of June 2021. “Koora Time programme continues to engage and grow the number of participants across Qatar. The success of the programme is due to the commitment of Qatar Shell and its long-time partners, QFA and Aspire Academy” said Rashid al-Sulaiti, Deputy General Manager Qatar Shell GTL. Moza al-Harami, Physical education supervision specialist at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Qatar, affirms “We appreciate the collaboration between Qatar Shell the Qatar Football Association and those who have worked tirelessly on the success of Koora Time and its effort to carry on the participation of a large percentage of government schools. An initiative that aims to preserve the health of our students by providing additional hours of physical activity in line with the objectives of our physical education curriculum. We look forward to the success of this collaborative initiative and to maintain this great partnership between all parties involved. Moreover, the online platform introduced innovative practices to train local teachers. The new methodology follows a gradual progressive system which continues to adapt new elements of football training as children acquire new skills. The additional component alongside the existing ‘Healthy Living Methodology’ has further developed the sustainable Koora Time initiative. Since its launch in 2012, Koora Time has transformed the fitness and nutrition habits of an entire generation of children, with 95 percent of participants seeing a reduction in their Body Mass Index (BMI) in recent years. Alanoud Al Mesnad, Director of Marketing and Communication in Aspire Academy adds: “We are proud to be part of this initiative that complements the mission of the academy in encouraging young generation to adopt a healthy life style and its methodology in making sports and education an effective tool in society development. We thank Shell Qatar for choosing Aspire Academy as a partner in delivering this successful community initiative” In testament to its success in recent years, Koora Time has earned internationally acclaimed awards, bringing the total number of accolades won locally and internationally to 13.
