Annual Brahmotsavams at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams feature deity processions on Kalpa Vriksha and Sarvabhoopala Vahanam, drawing large crowds.
On Sunday, the fourth day of the annual Brahmotsavams at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) temple, the deity of Lord Kodandarama was taken in a grand procession on the ‘Kalpavriksha Vahanam’ and ‘Sarvabhoopala Vahanam’ in the morning and the evening.
According to Hindu mythology, Kalpavriksha is a wish-fulfilling tree that grants boons sought by the devout. Worshipping any deity from the Hindu pantheon of Gods is believed to bring prosperity. The procession of the deity of Lord Kodandarama, was flanked by the idols of Sita Devi and Lakshmana. A large number of devotees participated in the procession.
In the evening, the Sarvabhoopala Vahanam procession also drew large crowds. The canopy-shaped Sarvabhoopala Vahanam is a metaphor for the universe, and the deity of Kodandarama placed in it, symbolises his omnipresence and control over the universe.
