Kochi Metro services faced an hour-long disruption after a train breakdown at MG Road station on February 25, 2026.
Kochi Metro services in Kerala were disrupted for about an hour on Wednesday (February 25, 2026) morning after a train broke down at MG Road station.
The services were halted for around 20 minutes initially as the train developed a technical issue connected to its brake system around 8 a.m. A spare train arrived from the metro’s coach-maintenance depot at Muttom and towed the stranded train to the depot for repair works.
The services were resumed gradually after the other trains were allowed to move at a speed of 10 km/hr till the process of towing away the train that developed the snag was completed. It took around 40 minutes, according to the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd authorities.
The delay left hundreds of passengers, mainly office-goers and students, stranded at stations in the corridor, until the services were restored.

Bulrushes in wetlands are not encroachments, but ‘legal homes’ to birds in the crake and rail family and warblers, so government line agencies ought to tread on them thoughtfully
