KK cremated in Mumbai today, friends and family gather to bid him emotional goodbye

Singer KK was laid to rest in Mumbai on June 2. His family and friends from the industry had gathered outside the Versova Hindu cremation ground to bid him a tearful goodbye.

The music industry lost a true gem when KK lost his life on May 31. The 53-year-old singer was performing at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata for a concert when he complained of uneasiness. KK was taken to CMRI Hospital in Kolkata but was declared brought dead. KK's fans and the music industry are absolutely heartbroken by this news. The popular singer was cremated in Mumbai on Thursday, June 2. His last rites were held in the presence of close family members and friends at Versova Hindu cremation ground.

KK's mortal remains have been cremated at Versova Hindu cremation ground. The late singer passed away on May 31. KK's family was in Kolkata to take his mortal remains to Mumbai. His body was honoured with a gun salute at Kolkata’s Rabindra Sadan. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was also present at Sadan to pay her last respects. KK's family took his mortal remains via a flight to Mumbai at 5.15 pm on June 1. The flight landed at around 8 pm in Mumbai.

Prior to the cremation, celebs such as Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, and others arrived at KK's Andheri residence in Mumbai for antim darshan.

KK was one of the most versatile singers in the Indian music industry. He has sung superhit numbers in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali, among others. KK reportedly suffered a heart attack. The playback singer collapsed after the concert and was rushed to a private hospital in the city. He was declared 'brought dead' to Kolkata's CMRI Hospital around 10 pm, hospital authorities told India Today TV.
