Kia 7-seat MPV launch in early 2022

Kia India will launch a new model in early 2022 that will offer seating for 6 or 7 occupants based on the Seltos platform.

Along with the announcement of its new brand identity that includes a new logo and slogan, Kia India revealed that it plans to launch a new product in early 2022 labelling it “a new segment entry”. Based on some inside info and recent spy shots, the upcoming Kia car in India will be a three-row SUV or MPV codenamed Kia KY. Spy shots suggest it will be more of an SUV or a crossover at the very least in terms of appearance. This new Kia 7 seat SUV or MPV will be based on the same platform as the Seltos. However, it is expected to sport a very different look and could borrow styling cues from the new generation Kia Carnival that was unveiled recently. Expect Kia to offer this new three-row model in both six and seven-seat configurations. In terms of positioning, it will occupy the space between three-row MPVs like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta rivalling the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the recently unveiled Hyundai Alcazar. Speaking of the Alcazar, this new Kia SUV is likely to boast similar proportions and feature the same 1.5-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engine options with automatic and manual transmission choices.
