It’s set to be a cold weekend in the area so bundle up and head out to some local events to warm your body and spirit.
In downtown Kitchener, the Sunday Grind event is back. This week, DJ Ice Pink will be spinning tunes at Matter of Taste Coffee Bar Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Football fans can head to a local sports bar to catch the Superbowl Sunday evening or watch it outside on the big screen at The Gaslight District in Cambridge. This event is “bring your own fun” which means people can bring barbecues, food and drink, music, decorations, seats and anything they need to tailgate for the game.
People in the Forest Heights neighbourhood of Kitchener are invited to join a skate social at the outdoor rink at Forest Heights Community Centre on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
In Cambridge at Avenue Road Public School, the Greenway-Chaplin Community Centre is hosting an open gym event on Saturday from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. where families can show up and take part in some free physical activities.
Guelph Winter Pride is underway with lots of events planned over the next week. There are several events this weekend including karaoke, a country night, printmaking workshop, a talk about the city’s 2SLGBTQ+ past, a drag brunch, winter walk and drop-in volleyball.
There’s also Valentine’s Vixens: A Drag Show at Ken Seiling Region of Waterloo Museum on Saturday evening. The 19+ ticketed event will feature Destiny Doll and Paris Matik and will be hosted by Sasha Tease.
The Kitchener Rangers host the Guelph Storm Friday night, then hit the road to take on the Niagara IceDogs on Saturday.

Make some paper heart ornaments, cards with heart confetti or decorate some cookies to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Activities are included in the price of admission. If you can’t make it this weekend, the Valentine’s crafternoons are also planned for next weekend.

This family event will include winter Olympic-themed activities, live entertainment, face painting, crafts and a photo booth. Traditionally, levees give the public a chance to talk to the mayor and council members.
