In a subtle tribute to Princess Diana, Kate Middleton wore her late mother-in-law's earrings on Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Thursday.
Kate Middleton paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana on the first day of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Trooping the Colour parade on Thursday and wore Diana's earrings for the occasion.
Kate, along with her three children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) and the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla, rode in a carriage for a royal procession. She also made a beaming appearance on Buckingham Palace balcony with the Queen and other royal family members.
For the special occasion, Kate personified elegance in a white blazer-style dress. She wore it with a white fascinator featuring blue stripes. To accessorise her outfit, she wore Princess Diana’s diamond and sapphire earrings. Her subtle tribute did not go unnoticed, as fans also took to social media to highlight the same.

Kate opted for drop earrings featuring two blue sapphires surrounded by dainty diamonds. Prince Diana wore these earrings several times. In fact, she also sported these at the Met Gala 1996.
The earrings Kate wore feature a similar design to Princess Diana’s engagement ring, which was passed on to Kate on her engagement to Prince William in 2010.
Kate Middleton also marked her presence at the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London today. She will also travel to Wales with her husband William as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will skip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet’s first birthday party.
