Kanniyakumari comes fifth in the State with 97.01% pass rate in Plus Two results; Thoothukudi records a slight decline

Kanniyakumari district ranks fifth in Class 12 results with 97.01% pass rate, while Thoothukudi drops to ninth place.
As the Class 12 public examination results were released on Thursday, Kanniyakumari district bagged the fifth position in the State with a pass percentage of 97.01%. The district exhibited a remarkable improvement as last year it was ranked in the 14th position.
In Kanniyakumari district, a total of 21,942 students appeared for the examination including 10,534 boys and 11,408 girls. Of these, 10,027 boys and 11,260 girls, totalling 21,287 have passed the 12th standard public examination conducted for the academic year 2024-2025.
In addition to its overall performance, the district has also secured fourth position in the category of highest pass percentage among the government school students.
Among the 60 government schools in the district, students from nine schools achieved a 100 % pass rate. A total of 5936 government school students including 2,964 boys and 2,972 girls appeared for the examination. Out of these 2,735 boys 2,908 girls passed, totalling 5,643 students. This resulted in an overall government school pass percentage of 95.06%, placing the district fourth in this category.
Thoothukudi saw a slight decline in performance. Its overall pass percentage dropped from 96.39% last year to 96.19%, moving the district down from seventh to ninth place.
From Thoothukudi 19,242 students appeared for the class 12 final examination including 8,741 boys and 10,501 girls. A total of 18,509 students passed the examination with 8,229 boys and 10,280 girls. Among that boys pass percentage was 94.14% and among girls it was 97.90%.
Similarly it has also slipped in the section of pass percentage of the government school students. From holding the fourth position last year, it has dropped to the 10th position. A total of 4,910 students from government schools appeared for the examination including 1,904 boys and 3,006 girls. Out of which 4,609 cleared the examination with 1,714 boys and 2,895 girls, marking a pass percentage of 93.87%. Furthermore 15 government schools out of 57 schools recorded a 100% result in the Thoothukudi district.
