Kanhaiya Kumar, Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani To Join Congress: Sources

Former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar and independent Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani will join the Congress next, party sources told NDTV this evening. 

They are likely to join during an event on October 2 - the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. They were earlier expected to come on board on September 28, but the date has been pushed forward.

Mr Mevani will be made a Working President of the party's state unit, while Mr Kumar - currently with the CPM - is expected to bring a few other Left leaders with him.
