QNA/AgenciesAmmanThe Jordan Tennis Federation has officially requested to host the Davis Cup round, which was scheduled to be held in Vietnam on August 23.The president of the federation, Hazem Adas, told Jordan News Agency on Sunday that Jordan has officially requested to host the tournament, after Vietnam apologized for not being able to organize, indicating that the procedures are moving towards official approval.Adas indicated that the Jordanian federation has started the hosting procedures, as the Olympic committee was addressed, pending its approval, in preparation for the announcement of the hosting, which will witness wide participation.Vietnam was to host the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group III tournament in the southern Tay Ninh Province in June.The matches had been scheduled at the Hai Dang Tennis Club from June 16 to 19, according to the International Tennis Federation (ITF).The Vietnamese team, ranked 71st in the world, will play Hong Kong (68th), Syria (76th), Sri Lanka (78th), Kuwait (110th), Qatar (111th), Jordan (120th), Pacific Oceania (122nd) and Malaysia (127th).Vietnam have been in Group III since 2003. After topping it in 2018, they failed to get promotion to World Group II after losing 4-0 to Morocco in the play-offs last March.With home advantage, Vietnam were hoping to reach the play-offs next year.With Vietnam apologising for not being able to host the major sporting event, Jordan is expecting for the Kingdomâs request to be approved.More Related News
