Joran van der Sloot case: Fmr assistant US atty says new charges are 'unlikely' for Natalee Holloway suspect
Fox News
A former assistant United States attorney told Fox News Digital that new charges are unlikely to be brought up in the case against Joran Van der Sloot.
Van der Sloot is currently in a Lima, Peru, prison serving a 28-year prison sentence for the killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Lima. Flores was killed by van der Sloot on May 30, 2010 — exactly five years after Natalee Holloway was last seen alive in Aruba while on a Mountain Brook High School senior trip. Van der Sloot is being charged with extortion and wire fraud after attempting to sell information to Beth Holloway regarding the location of her daughter's body. He allegedly asked for a total of $250,000 — $25,000 upfront for the information, with the rest of the money to be paid out when Natalee Holloway's remains were positively identified in Aruba, where she went missing.
