Jon Stewart Spots Why Trump's Latest Excuses Are Oh So Childish

The "Daily Show" host named the two responses that Trump churns out when he's under fire.
Jon Stewart on Thursday shredded Donald Trump’s talk of a “law and order” presidency after his pardon of ex-Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted of helping to smuggle 400 tons of cocaine into the U.S.
On the latest episode of “The Weekly Show” podcast, producer Gillian Spear noted that Trump told a reporter on Sunday that he didn’t know who she meant when asked about pardoning a “notorious drug trafficker.”
“By the way, what a 6-year-old he is. Whenever he gets confronted, his responses are either ‘I don’t know’ or ‘You’re stupid,’” Stewart said. “I have children, I’m very familiar with these dodges.”
Stewart observed how Trump also used the “I don’t know” excuse in response to questions about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the ongoing boat strike scandal in his administration.
“They ask him [about the double-tap strike] and he goes, ‘I don’t know, you know, I got nothing to do with it.’ And you’re like, ‘You’re the commander-in-chief!’” Stewart said.
