Joint inspection held for elevated rotary flyover plans at IOC Junction to ease Bengaluru's traffic congestion.
Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) M. Maheshwar Rao on Monday conducted a joint site inspection at IOC Junction near Baiyappanahalli on Banasawadi Main Road to review plans for a proposed elevated rotary flyover and related infrastructure works. The inspection was carried out along with officials from Bangalore Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE) and Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company Limited (K-RIDE).
The inspection was on coordinating the construction of a more than 3-km-long elevated rotary flyover at IOC Junction and an additional two-lane railway overbridge at the Baiyyappanahalli railway level crossing.
Officials were instructed by the Chief Commissioner to ensure that both projects are taken up simultaneously, without causing inconvenience to commuters, and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The project, estimated to cost around ₹380 crore, is aimed at easing traffic congestion along the busy Maruthi Sevanagar–Banasawadi–Kammanahalli–Baiyappanahalli corridor.
The review gains importance as K-RIDE is also set to begin suburban rail project work in the same area.
The tender process for the rotary flyover is underway and in the financial bid evaluation stage. Price negotiations with contractors are ongoing, and the proposal will soon be submitted to the government for approval. Construction will commence after formal clearance is granted, Mr. Rao said.
