
John Davidson returning to Blue Jackets after surprise Rangers firing

It’s as if it were all a bad dream.
Less than two weeks after he surprisingly was fired as president of the Rangers, John Davidson is going back to his former job, president of the Blue Jackets, according to The Columbus Dispatch. The Rangers goaltending legend returned to New York two years ago to shepherd the franchise’s rebuilding. He had been Columbus’ president of hockey operations for seven years before being poached by the Rangers in 2019.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
