Joel Embiid having meniscus surgery in potential 76ers nightmare scenario
NY Post
Joel Embiid will undergo surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee, the 76ers announced on Sunday.
The team did not give a timeline for the NBA superstar’s return, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Embiid is expected to miss “an extended period of time.”
The NBA insider also indicated that the “door isn’t closed on an Embiid return this season.”
“Joel Embiid will have a corrective procedure this week to address an injury to the lateral meniscus in his left knee. An update will be provided following the procedure,” a team statement read.
The news comes after it was revealed that he was diagnosed with a displaced flap of the meniscus in his left knee over the weekend and late last week the 76ers acknowledged that he was dealing with a knee issue.
The injury occurred during Tuesday night’s loss to the Warriors when Jonathan Kuminga landed on Embiid’s left leg while going for a loose ball in the fourth quarter.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
