A proposed government group charged with drafting a national employment policy is anticipated to produce a plan for expanding job opportunities.
In September, formal employment creation accelerated, with 1.54 million official jobs created under the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, up from 1.36 million in August, a 13.2 percent increase. EPFO's net new customers increased by 3% year over year to 1.49 million in September 2020, compared to 1.49 million in September 2020.
According to payroll data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, 1.33 million new subscribers were added to the Employees State Insurance Corporation, compared to 1.34 million in August, while 72,923 new subscribers were added to the National Pension Scheme, compared to 56,827 in August 2021. After June, when it stood at 78,265, additions under the NPS are the second largest in the current fiscal year.
