Jerry Jones addresses Mike McCarthy’s job status after ‘very concerning’ Cowboys loss
NY Post
Jerry Jones’ football team was served a large piece of humble pie on the geriatric owner’s 82nd birthday Sunday as the Cowboys were decimated by the Lions, 47-9.
Jones described the loss – the worst home defeat that the Cowboys have suffered since Jones bought the franchise in 1989 – as both “humbling” and “very concerning” as the team now attempts to figure out where things go from here.
The Cowboys have struggled at home all season, but Sunday’s loss was on another level.
“We’ve got to assess and we’ve certainly got a bye week, but there’s nothing magic about a bye week,” Jones said. “You can do some things differently within three days of some of the things that bit us out there today. This was very concerning and it was very humbling and it felt bad because of all of our great fans, especially the ones in the stadium and certainly the ones that are all about the Cowboys.”
Sunday’s ugly loss had been the most points the Cowboys had ever given up in a game where they didn’t score a touchdown, according to Ed Werder.
Dallas was held to just 53 yards on the ground.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
