In part because the Yankees have generally become averse to offering extensions, any long-term commitment will almost certainly have to wait until next offseason.
Which means Chisholm is about to enter a walk year with plenty at stake, potentially setting him up to cash in next winter, which would benefit both him and the Yankees, regardless of where he eventually ends up.
“For me, I just put my trust in God,” Chisholm said Friday afternoon in The Bronx, where he donated 25 laptops and an interactive display screen to a new computer lab (plus a pair of sneakers to each student) at Community School 55.

For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
